Arts & Business
Arts & Business, once presided over by Prince Charles, fosters partnerships between the UK’s cultural and private sectors. We created brochures celebrating 'lost' yet brilliant ideas, praised by the Culture Secretary for stimulating fresh concepts.
“I am writing to express my sincere gratitude for your efforts on the production of the book.
“The design, in particular, is excellent and presents our work in a very positive light. The end result is tremendous and will certainly be a great boost to our work. Once again, many thanks for your support.”
— Colin Tweedy, Chief Executive
"Dear Stephen and the Heat Design team, I am delighted to have received the 'It Worked for Them' brochure you created for Arts & Business. It is a beautifully crafted storytelling piece that captures the importance of creative ideas and the co-existence of the two sectors."
— Chris Smith, Culture Secretary
Arts & Business, presided over by Prince Charles, is a charitable organisation dedicated to fostering partnerships between the UK’s cultural and private sectors. The organisation’s goal is to secure investment for the arts from businesses and individuals while encouraging the exchange of skills between both sectors. Arts & Business needed a series of brochures and reports that would highlight the benefits of collaboration between the arts and business sectors, celebrate their achievements, and communicate their impact in a compelling and engaging manner.
Over six years, Heat Design created three main brochures, an annual report, and a timeline chart to showcase the achievements of Arts & Business up to 2003. The brochures focused on the benefits of arts and business working together, capturing the essence of how creative ideas can enhance business success and vice versa. The annual report celebrated 'lost' yet brilliant ideas that may not have won A&B awards but were highly relevant to businesses, praised by the Culture Secretary for stimulating fresh ideas and inspiring smiles. Additionally, the timeline chart documented significant milestones and achievements, providing a visual representation of their progress and impact over the years.
As of 2003, Arts & Business had helped turn £60 million of public funding into £1 billion worth of support for the arts. The organisation had trained thousands of arts companies to be better at business and thousands of business people to be more creative. The brochures and reports we created played a crucial role in communicating these achievements and the importance of the symbiotic relationship between the arts and business sectors.
